Grab some popcorn and maybe a bottle of chilled fanta and get comfortable because I have a story that’ll have you nodding along and maybe even laughing out loud. It’s about my girl Sarah – my ride-or-die, my inside circle babe – and her epic journey to finding her dream apartment on a budget in the chaotic jungle of Lagos.
Career Moves
So picture this: Sarah, a sharp and ambitious data analyst, was holding it down in Abule Egba, working steadily at a real estate company there. She was doing well there but she knew she could do even better. She decided to go after those big consulting firms in Lekki.
She had tons of applications and interviews, she was hell bent on getting this job. I could barely even see my friend anymore, always busy, always preparing for one interview or test. Eventually, her hard work paid and she got a job offer in Lekki with a mouth watering pay.
The Shege
But here’s where the shege started. Commuting from Abule Egba to Lekki every day? Nah, nobody deserves that kind of torture. Traffic jams, crammed buses, and the usual Lagos wahala – it was a daily grind that would break even the toughest of us.
So, Sarah did what any sane person would do – she started house hunting for an apartment on a budget. And let me tell you, it was not a pot of beans. With her agent, Gbenga, they started their unending search in the Lagos rental market, only to find themselves deeper and deeper in shege pro max.
I’m talking about apartments so tiny, you could barely turn around without bumping into something. Places where the kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom were practically on top of each other – space was but a concept in these places!
The Game Changer-Ulospaces
But just when Sarah was about to give up, fate intervened in the form of an Instagram scroll. That’s right, – Ulospaces entered the scene and changed the game entirely. In no time, Sarah found herself staring at a listing for a cozy apartment in Orchid Estate – complete with 12-hour electricity, free Wi-Fi, and monthly rent options. Can you say jackpot?
And that’s not even the best part. With Ulospaces‘ help, Sarah breezed through the rental process like a boss. They even helped her get with a cleaner – in this Lagos?! Unbelievable. I thought it was all an exaggeration till she moved in and I went to visit her (as the assistant house owner that I am) and I saw for myself that everything was as she told it, omo.
Now, I don’t know about you, but I’m feeling a little bit jealous. But hey, Sarah’s success story is just the beginning. Who knows? Maybe next time, it’ll be me sharing my own apartment-hunting adventures – minus the shege pro max, of course.
So here’s to Sarah, the queen of Orchid Estate, and to all of us out there chasing our own dreams in this crazy city we call home.
Wishing you all the best of luck in your own adventures.
